Hotel de Genève - Saint Lazare

Let's go to the... Christmas markets!

Hot wine, gingerbread, foie gras, chocolates... It smells good Christmas around here! As the holiday season approaches, Paris stirs up your five senses. Christmas markets all over the capital distil their scents and we like it! December would not be December without a short trip between the wooden garlanded chalets. This year again, follow the guide!
The Hôtel de Genève advises you to start your discovery itinerary of the Parisian Christmas markets with a market... Alsatian! Direction all the Gare de l'Est and its square where all the flavours of Alsace are gathered. After eating a pretzel, you are on your way to another square, City Hall. Discover a forest of fir trees, a little train and chalets where you can stock up on "made in Paris" products.
Cross the Seine and let yourself be guided by the towers of Notre-Dame. Two minutes walk from the magnificent cathedral, Viviani Square houses a small craft market. Ideal for finding ceramics, jewellery, artistic ironwork or leather objects....
Looking for a little something to drink? Head for Saint-Germain-des-Prés and, with a glass of mulled wine in hand, enjoy the friendly and warm atmosphere of this small traditional market, the smallest of its kind in Paris.
For the contrast, don't miss the Defense market where more than 350 exhibitors line up! This is certainly the largest market in Paris and Île-de-France, but it is also one of the most authentic!
To find a market on a human scale, go to Montmartre on the Place des Abbesses. Here you will find a village atmosphere and local products.
From there, you can return to the Hôtel de Genève, which is only a 20-minute walk away.
